Apple on Tuesday announced it has begun shipping its “high performance, enterprise class Storage Area Network (SAN) file system,” Xsan.
“Apple’s pro video and IT customers now have an affordable, high performance SAN file system on Mac OS X,” Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing Philip Schiller said. “Together, Apple’s Xsan file system software and Xserve RAID storage hardware deliver a powerful, easy-to-manage, enterprise class SAN solution at a breakthrough low price.”
Xsan sells for $999 per client per server and is available immediately through the Apple Store online and Apple Authorized Resellers. [Spymac]
